The second season of BEACON HILL premieres Friday, April 17, on Reel Women’s Network, a new streaming service dedicated to showcasing content created by women. “It’s a political drama set in Beacon Hill in Boston and about these two political families,” explained executive producer and director Crystal Chappell, who daytime fans remember as Olivia on GUIDING LIGHT, Maggie on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Carly on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and Danielle on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. “I just loved the script and I really wanted it. They sent it to me years ago and I was just, we’ve got to try and make this ’cause it’s really good.”
Since the first season of BEACON HILL aired back in 2014, they were unable to get back all the same cast members, so Marem Hassler will be taking over the lead role of Katherine from Sarah Brown (ex-Carly, GENERAL HOSPITAL). Also being added to the cast of familiar daytime faces are fellow soap stars Hillary B. Smith (Nora, GH/OLTL), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe, DAYS), and Jacob Young (ex-Rick, B&B; ex-Lucky, GH). In fact, Smith will be playing Chappell’s mother! “We thought that was a stretch,” Chappell admitted, “but she can do it. She’s that good!”
Chappell is very excited for soap fans to be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor and get wrapped up in another season of political intrigue, romance, and family drama. “This is written by Jessica and Linda Hill, and Jessica is a true soap fan if there ever was one” she confided. “There are so many twists and turns in this show. In season one, we left off with my character, Claire, opening the door and we don’t see who’s there, but she’s obviously stunned. So we get to find out immediately who’s at the door. But it’s about relationships and secrets from the past that come back to haunt certain people. It’s really yummy soap stuff.”
