As the Daytime Emmy Awards approach on Sunday, April 30, everyone wants to know which of the nominated actors will bring home the golden statuette. A crucial part of securing a nomination and getting the Emmy itself for an actor is selecting just the right clips for their reel. Those scenes are all the judges have to go on when deciding whose performance was the best of the year!
Now you can judge for yourself by perusing the official Emmy reels submitted by Outstanding Younger Actor nominees Anthony Turpel (R.J., THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), Pierson Fodé (Thomas, B&B), James Lastovic (Joey, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Tequan Richmond (TJ, GENERAL HOSPITAL), and Bryan Craig (Morgan, GH).
Anthony Turpel (R.J., B&B)
Daytime newcomer Turpel admitted to Soaps In Depth he actually had no hand in selecting his Emmy reel, which contains his very first scenes on the soap as R.J. returned home to Brooke and Ridge and attempted to persuade them to reunite their family as well as his confrontation with Bill trying to get him to call off his wedding to his mother.
Pierson Fodé (Thomas, B&B)
Fodé submitted the emotional scenes from the episode in the cabin where Thomas struggled to agree to Caroline’s request that he not claim Douglas as his child and continue the lie that the baby is Ridge’s.
James Lastovic (Joey, DAYS)
Lastovic’s Emmy reel contains the scene where Joey tearfully confessed to Steve the truth about Ava, followed by the scenes where he smothered Ava to death with a pillow. It concludes with Joey’s visit to his father to admit to how his crime is tearing him apart from the inside out.
Tequan Richmond (TJ, GH)
Richmond didn’t have a lot of screen time on GH over the past year, but what he did have was incredibly juicy! His reel starts with the scenes where TJ confronted Jordan about keeping the truth that Shawn is his father from him, followed by the scenes where TJ confronted Curtis about the lies, and ends with the scenes in the park where TJ confides in his mother how distraught he was over Morgan’s death.
Bryan Craig (Morgan, GH)
This year, Craig is the odds-on favorite in this category, and his reel shows exactly why. It opens with Morgan tearfully begging his parents not to lock him up in a mental hospital, and ends with the troubled young man’s attempt to jump off the roof of General Hospital before being talked down by Sonny.
Now that you’ve seen all the Daytime Emmy reel submissions from the contenders for Outstanding Younger Actor, you know what a difficult choice that the Blue Ribbon Panel has in selecting a winner!
