ABC and People are presenting The Story of Soaps, a very special two-hour primetime television event chronicling the iconic history of the soap opera industry on Tuesday, May 19, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

The Story of Soaps will explore the genre that established serialized storytelling and became a part of the cultural consciousness and created a legacy that is still impacting modern television to this day. Offering expert commentary on the history of daytime drama are creators like THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Brad Bell and  ALL MY CHILDREN’s Agnes Nixon, stars like Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC) and Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) as well as daytime alums like John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and Alec Baldwin (Billy, THE DOCTORS).
