Please join us in congratulating GENERAL HOSPITAL fan favorite Carolyn Hennesy on her exciting new role as Star Wars’ Princess Leia! Well, actually, that’s General Leia Organa now. Lucasfilm has selected the actress as the new voice of the iconic character in the animated series LEGO STAR WARS: ALL-STARS and STAR WARS RESISTANCE.
LEGO STAR WARS: ALL-STARS was a LEGO animated series of shorts that was released simultaneously on Disney XD and the Disney XD YouTube channel, so you can check them out there and listen for Hennesy’s voice whenever Leia’s on screen. STAR WARS RESISTANCE is an animated series set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows a pilot recruited by the Resistance to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. That pilot is played by DAYS OF OUR LIVES alum Christopher Sean (ex-Paul). Although the character of General Leia was originally voiced in the series by Rachel Butera, fans noticed she sounded a little different in the winter finale that aired on Dec. 10 and saw Hennesy’s name listed in the credits.
As Hennesy only makes recurring appearances as attorney Diane Miller on GH, the talented performer keeps herself busy with all kinds of other acting jobs. She has appeared in series from DAWSON’S CREEK to COUGAR TOWN and TRUE BLOOD. Most recently, Hennesy could be seen playing the wicked stepmother Victoria Snow in the holiday movie A Snow White Christmas, which aired on Ion TV.
Giving life to the iconic Star Wars character created by the late Carrie Fisher is quite an honor, and we look forward to seeing — er, hearing — more of Hennesy’s performance in the role when STAR WARS RESISTANCE returns to finish out its first season in 2019.
