No matter how many times Finola Hughes (Anna, GENERAL HOSPITAL) finds herself nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, it’s still a thrill! “I’m forever surprised and humbled if I get nominated,” she tells Soaps In Depth. “I’m excited for the show, too, that we have so many nominees.”
Last year, she found out when castmate Jason Thompson (ex-Patrick, now THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS‘ Billy) texted her the big news, and this time it was Michelle Stafford (Nina) and fellow Outstanding Lead Actress nominee Maura West (Ava) who were among the first to congratulate her.
Whether or not she brings home the trophy in the end, Hughes intends to enjoy the big night. “The whole thing is just a nice celebration of our industry and what we do best,” she muses. “From crew to cast, it’s a tremendous amount of work that we put in every year. It’s nice to just step back for a moment and have a night to celebrate that.”
Hughes is also anticipating finally being able to join the other Lead Actress contenders for their annual nominee brunch. “I’ve been invited,” she confesses, “but for some reason or another, I’ve never been able to make it!”
