Who Was Marcus on General Hospital?

Stella’s long-lost love, Marcus Godfrey, arrived on General Hospital on Nov. 19, 2018, with Nigel Gibbs playing the new character. The actor has an extensive resume that includes television series like Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Melrose Place, Desperate Housewives, and The Shield as well as films like Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, Devil in a Blue Dress, and The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

Decades ago, Marcus proposed to Stella Henry, but she turned him down because her sister was ill and she needed to help care for her nephews, Curtis Ashford and Thomas. While having a bite with Mike Corbin at Kelly’s, Stella was stunned to run into Marcus, who had moved to Port Charles because his wife, Yvonne, was being treated in town and he wanted to be nearer to her.

Yvonne was suffering from Alzheimer’s and living in the same care home as Mike. Marcus grew concerned when his wife befriended Mike, who, also suffering from Alzheimer’s, quickly fell in love with her. When Yvonne returned those feelings, Marcus became upset and wanted to move her to another facility, but Stella pointed out that Mike made Yvonne happy and convinced him to let her stay at Turning Woods. And in August, 2019, Mike and Yvonne exchanged wedding vows in a fake ceremony.

In June 2024, Stella was talking with Tracy Quartermaine and shared that she had just learned that Marcus himself passed away recently. Also, Yvonne had died shortly after Mike in September 2020.
