If you’re one of the GENERAL HOSPITAL fans who miss seeing Matt Cohen as Griffin on the long-running soap, you’re going to want to mark your calendar for Saturday, Dec. 14, because that’s when his new movie premieres at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark! “Holiday Date,” the actor tweeted. “Starring Brittany Bristow and myself! Hallmark Channel is bringing you a whole bunch of my cheesy smile this holiday season!”
Bristow plays Brooke, an aspiring fashion designer who is dumped right before Christmas. Dreading going home for the holidays and admitting the truth about her love life and career, she enlists the aid of actor Joel (played by Cohen) to play the part of her boyfriend for her family. Having described her beau as “Mr. Christmas,” Brooke is dismayed to learn that Joel is Jewish, but the family ends up celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah. But as Joel and Brooke grow closer, her ex-boyfriend reappears to complicate things!
Cohen joined the cast of GH in 2016 as the handsome Dr. Griffin Monroe, but the character was written out in March of 2019 when the heartbroken doc, reeling from Kiki’s murder, left Port Charles to put his life back together. Since then, the actor produced and directed the indie thriller Mama Bear, which stars his wife, Mandy Musgrave. He’s also been helping to promote the final season of SUPERNATURAL, the CW series that he’s appeared on as Young John Winchester.
Hallmark still hasn’t released a trailer for Holiday Date, but with the movie’s premiere coming up soon, there should be one on the way any day, so stay tuned for more updates. And for more on your favorite GH stars — past and present — keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth.
