Maurice Benard Previews His Scary New Horror Movie, “Nightmare Cinema” (EXCLUSIVE)

It was all the way back in late 2017 when GENERAL HOSPITAL star Maurice Benard (Sonny) took a little break to appear in the horror film Nightmare Cinema, and as of Friday, June 21, fans will finally be able to see the results of his hard work! The flick is screening in limited release at select theaters and is also available on demand. “If you’re into horror, you’ll love it to death,” the actor declared when chatting about it to Soaps In Depth.

The anthology centers around five strangers who converge at a haunted movie theater owned by The Projectionist, played by Mickey Rourke. This allows the film to split into five different segments, each helmed by different directors, including Joe Dante, Alejandro Brugués, David Slade, and Mick Garris. Benard appears in “Mashit” from director Ryuhei Kitamura as Father Benedict, the head Monsignor at a school of children who finds himself fighting demons… actual demons! “I was reading a lot of the reviews, and everyone seems to be talking about this scene at the end,” the GH star teased. “Director Ryuhei Kitamura’s music is just badass. It’s operatic. The way they shot it and produced it, it is out of this world!”

If you’ve got the nerve, check out this terrifying trailer, and then be sure to watch Benard as you’ve never seen him before in Nightmare Cinema!
