GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Natalia Livingston Aldag Opens up About Her “Miracle Child” (EXCLUSIVE)

On GENERAL HOSPITAL, poor Emily Quartermaine married her prince, only to fall victim to the Text-Message Killer before they could start a family. “It was such a tragedy that they killed that character,” her portrayer, Natalia Livingston Aldag, reflected to Soaps In Depth. “It took me a lot of years to process it.” It also took the actress a long time to find her own happily ever after. But having tied the knot with Matt Aldag in 2016, she’s now a mom. Just days after the September 6 arrival of baby Colette Allegria Ginny-Martita, Aldag confided, “We’re completely sleep-deprived but truly in heaven!”

Unable to conceive naturally, the couple had gone the distance to have what Aldag calls their “miracle child” via in-vitro fertilization. “The first round didn’t work,” she admitted, “but we said, ‘Let’s just give it another shot.’ And it worked!” While experiencing a first pregnancy in her early 40s did present some risks, the actress was closely monitored and, aside from some dizziness, felt good throughout. “We were so happy just to be pregnant that I was grateful to be nauseous!” she laughed. “I kept that with me all the way through.”

What the mom-to-be did go through, however, was some pretty intense nesting. We moved to a larger house in Atlanta and did a complete demo/remodel of the kitchen and master bedroom,” she revealed. “I wanted everything to be done by the time Colette got here. Now everything is peaceful.” After her induced delivery resulted in 17-and-a-half hours of labor, Aldag really needed a lovely place to reflect on the meaning of giving birth just days after the second anniversary of her mom’s passing. “There’s not a doubt in my mind that Colette is her blessing,” Aldag shared. “I think life has a way of working itself out.”

Despite being on maternity leave from her Actor Boutique business, Aldag is currently putting the finishing touches on In Their Shoes, the documentary that she co-produced about a group of men whose lives intersect via a program geared toward helping them re-enter society after prison and overcome their addictions (donate to the film’s completion fund at “It’s been such a creative and collaborative process,” Adlag offered, “and it’s such a worthy cause.”
