Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Robert Palmer Watkins is starring as Cupid in a brand new pilot titled CUPID’S MATCH, premiering Wednesday, Feb. 14, on the CW’s digital network, CW Seed! So soap fans who miss seeing Watkins as Dillon Quartermaine on GH can check him out in this new supernatural romance. CUPID’S MATCH centers around high school student Lila Black, who finds that the Cupid’s Matchmaking Service has matched her with Cupid himself — the real one! Check out this fun preview below:
The show is based on the popular series read by millions of people on Wattpad by Lauren Palphreyman. “The first story had over 28 million readers last year,” Watkins enthused to Soaps In Depth. “We’re going to premiere this Valentine’s Day and depending on how that episode does, it will hopefully become a full season.”
The actor also warned that Cupid is a very different character than his good-guy alter ego on GH. “He’s a bit of a bad boy,” Watkins teased. “Cupid’s definitely a little more edgy, dangerous, and mysterious than Dillon. I’m really excited to play a different role. But I also love playing Dillon! For now, I’m excited to start CUPID’S MATCH, and I’ve been wrapping up post-production on my film, Last Three Days, attending GH events and auditioning. But I’d love to come back to GH. Hopefully, that’s in the cards at some point.”
You can watch Watkins in the first episode of CUPID’S MATCH either at the CW Seed website or by downloading the CW Seed app to your mobile device. And if it does well, more episodes may follow! It should be more than enough to tide you over while you wait for Dillon to come home to Port Charles!
