GENERAL HOSPITAL isn’t just using the Toys For Tots charity as part of a storyline they’re also supporting it in real life!
GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini posted a photo of himself and members of the cast posing alongside some U.S. Marines and the boxes of toys that they’d collected while filming the special Nutcracker Gala episodes that feature an elaborate ball being held in support of the charity.
“They brought in bins so our actors, crew and Disney/ABC employees could donate,” reveals ABC’s Manager, Current Programming, Nathan Varni.
So all of the toys collected while taping those episodes not only served as props on-screen, but will now be finding their way into the hands of less fortunate children.
“It was an honor to be a part of Toys For Tots today here at GH and meet these incredible Marines,” wrote Valentini on Twitter. “Thanks for all that you do!”
Don’t miss these special episodes (and all the drama that naturally erupts when all of Port Charles comes together for one of these parties) when they air the week of December 21. And for more information about how GH put it together and what you can expect to see at the Nutcracker Gala, be sure to pick up the issue of ABC Soaps In Depth on sale Friday, December 18!
