What Happened to Susan Moore on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Susan Moore on GENERAL HOSPITAL may be dead, but she’s not forgotten, at least by some Port Charles residents. Of course, some viewers may not recall Jason and Drew’s mom, which is where we come in! The character was introduced in 1978 and was played by actress Gail Ramsey until 1983 when Susan met a terrible fate.

When Susan arrived in Port Charles in 1978 she began stirring up as much trouble as her cousin, Heather Webber. Catching the eye of Mitch Williams, Susan began having an affair with the guy that continued even after he’d married Tracy Quartermaine. Ultimately, Tracy forced Mitch to break it off by promising to donate two million dollars to his campaign for governor as long as he dumped Susan.

Next, Susan went after Alan Quartermaine, who was upset at his wife, Monica Quartermaine‘s affair with Rick Webber. But Monica was having Alan followed, and Susan split up with him. Unfortunately, she soon discovered she was pregnant and ran away to New York City where she gave birth to her son, Jason, in 1981. (At the time, no one realized that she had actually given birth to twins.) Alan tracked her down and convinced her to return to Port Charles. When Edward Quartermaine continued to pressure Susan to disappear, Alan moved out of the mansion and in with the mother of his son. When she refused to let him live with her until he was single, Alan filed for divorce from Monica.

But when Alan changed his mind and reunited with his wife instead, Susan was heartbroken. Heather urged Susan to sue the Quartermaines for support, and she hired Scott Baldwin to be her lawyer, not realizing that the attorney was working with heather to get their hands on the Quartermaine fortune. In the end, Susan received only $150,000 while Jason was given a million-dollar trust fund. She and Scott also became romantically involved and Susan arranged for Heather to get custody of Jason if anything happened to her. After a drunken Susan found Scott with Laura Templeton, she got herself in a serious car accident and fearing Heather would get everything if she died, convinced Scott to marry her.

Unfortunately, Scott was just after the money and used Jason’s trust fund to build a mall on the docks. Furious, Susan cut him off and kicked him out of the house. She then teamed up with Lila Quartermaine’s first husband, Crane Tolliver, to blackmail the Quartermaine family with the revelation that Lila and Edward’s marriage was invalid. When Susan was found murdered, the Quartermaines were all at the top of the suspect list, but it was later revealed that Crane had shot Susan when she attempted to back out of their deal.

In 2012, it was revealed that Susan had actually given birth to twin boys in 1981. Heather claimed she had sold the second infant to nurse Betsy Frank, but she was lying. The baby Heather sold was actually her son with Scott, who grew up to become Franco Baldwin. Susan’s second baby was Drew Cain, who was raised by Betsy for a few years before she gave him away. It was all very, very complicated.
