GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Vernee Watson Hopes Her Emmy Award Inspires Her Students (EXCLUSIVE)

Of course Vernee Watson was thrilled to win a Daytime Emmy Award for Special Guest Performer earlier this year for her portrayal of Stella on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but it was about more than just being honored by her peers for her talent. “I’m especially grateful,” she revealed to Soaps In Depth, “because I teach children and this will give them something to work towards — and I’m so hard on those kids!”
In addition to her acting career which began in the ‘70s with roles on TV shows like WELCOME BACK KOTTER and movies like Trick Baby, Watson has also been an acting coach for over 25 years, working with young talent writing plays and presenting seminars and workshops for The H.E.ART and Fox Studio performing arts schools. “And I don’t play!” she laughed of her teaching style. “I actually taught a class the morning of the Emmys and they drove me crazy before I got there.

“But I want those kids to know that this is how you succeed,” Watson concluded. ‘You’ve got to have a respect for the business, and you’ve got to do your homework. Hopefully, this will instill that in them.”
