GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Wes Ramsey Reveals When He First Fell for Laura Wright (EXCLUSIVE)
It wasn’t until May of 2017 that GENERAL HOSPITAL star Laura Wright (Carly) went public with their new romance, but beau Wes Ramsey (Peter) admitted to Soaps In Depth that he had been smitten with her since they were co-stars on GUIDING LIGHT back in 2001 (He played Sam Spencer on the CBS sudser while she was starring as Cassie Layne)!
“Crystal Chappell (Olivia) was having her first son, Jake, and Laura was pregnant with her second child, John,” he recalled. “I was fresh out of Juilliard and had never seen women this beautiful, talented, successful, strong, and confident as mothers, actors, and wives. I was completely in awe. And I never forgot it.”
Ramsey left GL in 2002 (although he did return to reprise the role a few times in subsequent years), and Wright exited in 2005 to move to GH and play the latest recast of Carly Corinthos. And while the two are once again castmates on the same soap, that wasn’t when they first reconnected. A chance meeting at a Daytime Emmy Awards in April of 2017 reunited the pair and sparked their current relationship, but Ramsey revealed that Wright actually kind of re-entered his life back in December of 2016!
“My sister-in-law’s mother was watching GH and I was stopped in my tracks — there was Laura!” he confided with a grin. “The moment her scene ended, I picked up the remote, paused it and said, ‘I remember that woman.’ To see her now brings back so many memories. For 20 years, I’ve thought she’s one of the greatest actors and one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Was I manifesting Laura into my life? I’ve been enamored with that woman my whole life and next thing you know, there we were at a Daytime Emmy party. It was hugs and laughter, and we’ve been inseparable ever since!”
