GH Alum Sebastian Roche Cast in the New YELLOWSTONE Spinoff!
The cast of the upcoming YELLOWSTONE spinoff, 1923, has added a face familiar to daytime viewers: Sebastian Roché, who played villain Jerry Jacks on GENERAL HOSPITAL on and off from 2007-’15, has been tapped to play a recurring role on the upcoming Paramount+ series. “So thrilled to join this illustrious cast and creative team!” Roche raved on Instagram after Deadline first broke the news.
Currently in production in Montana, 1923 is a prequel to the wildly popular Western drama starring Kevin Costner. The main series revolves around the family drama at a large cattle ranch and the Indian reservation and national park that borders it as land developers prey on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The 1923 series will be the third spinoff in the YELLOWSTONE franchise, and the second installment to be an origin story for the Dutton family.
Headlined by Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, 1923 is set at the end of World War I and the start of prohibition. As viewers are introduced to a new generation of the family, the series will explore the Great Depression, the historic drought that plagued the Midwest, and the lawlessness of widespread cattle theft as the Duttons build their ranch. Just as how details surrounding Ford’s and Mirren’s characters have been kept secret, who Roché will be playing is also being kept under wraps. But the actor did tease on August 23 that he was working on a top-secret new project. “First day on set of a fabulous project,” he shared, posting a mirror selfie from his trailer.
While Roché is best known to GH viewers for his time in Port Charles as Jax’s brother, the actor has an impressive list of primetime credits to his name. He was vampire patriarch Mikael on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and its spinoff THE ORIGINALS, Balthazar on SUPERNATURAL, and most recently starred in the ABC drama BIG SKY as Sheriff John Wagy. Roché has also appeared in THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, THE YOUNG POPE, BATWOMAN, ALIAS, and CHARMED, and will star in the upcoming Netflix horror anthology GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES.
1923 is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ in December.
