GH’s Parsons Slept Through Emmy Noms!
Imagine waking up one morning to nine voicemail messages, and texts from six different people. That is exactly what happened to Nathan Parsons (ex-Ethan, GENERAL HOSPITAL) the day that the nominations were announced for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, even though the day before, a friend insisted to the actor that he would be on the list! “I had 9 new voicemails and about 6 text messages. ‘Oh, it must have happened!'” says the actor with a laugh. “I knew it was postponed, so I wasn’t exactly sure when the nominations were going to be. That morning, it was like, ‘Ok, here we go!'” It was certainly a nice start to the day! “I didn’t know what to do after that!”
Among those well-wishers were former co-stars Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky) and Alyshia Ochse (ex-Cassandra). “I went off the show not exactly the way I wanted to. I wanted to go out with a bang, and then I kind of snuck out with a little whimper,” he says with a chuckle. “It’s kind of nice, all these months later to be nominated.”
And even though he’ll be competing against former co-star Chad Duell (Michael) for the Outstanding Younger Actor title, Parsons doesn’t mind one bit. “I was really excited for him last year, and it didn’t quite work out. I hope it’s between the two of us. I hope it stays in the family, so to speak.”
Since exiting GH, the Aussie has been auditioning for projects left and right. “I had a great pilot season,” he shares. “I screen tested for a couple of things. I’m on hold for another thing. It’s been really fun, and it’s been a whole variety of things. Getting to sit down and read 150 pages of a script I’ve never read before. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to leave GH. I loved the show, and I loved everyone there. It was just the same character for 3 years, and that’s not something that you’re used to as an actor. When you do theater, you do a part for a couple of months, and then it’s over. So it’s been nice to try on all these different faces.”
Keep checking back for updates, and we’ll let you know when we have some good news to share about Parsons!
