ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Eddie Alderson Reports He Is Cancer Free
For the past three years, ONE LIFE TO LIVE star Eddie Alderson (Matthew) has been battling cancer, but the young actor finally had some good news to share. “Today is a good day. A damn good day,” he posted to Instagram. “I’ve been quite private and selective about updating the status of my health the last few years. I’ve shared some of the down times and some of the good times. Today, I had a scan that showed no active disease in my body.
“For the first time in the past three years, I am done with chemo and treatments,” Alderson continued. “To think of all the ups and downs I (we) have gone through, this day is worth celebrating. I’ve used the phrase ‘No Surrender’ these past three years to hopefully inspire some of you that nothing is worth giving up over. I was diagnosed with stage four cancer and look at where I am today. I am [freaking] proud of this day. I am proud of myself and all of the people who are fighting today or have fought. The impact that my family and friends and all of you’ve had on me has given me the drive to fight. I will always fight and spread awareness for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.”

Back in November of 2016, Alderson took to social media to let his fans know that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, and shared updates during his treatments, celebrating when he had finished in April of 2017 and then sharing the difficult return to the hospital later that year. And in December, his dream to meet Bruce Springsteen came true and the singer autographed “No Surrender” on Alderson’s arm so he could have it tattooed forever.
“This may not be the end of my fight,” he concluded, “but this is as damn close as you can get to shutting the damn door on cancer and saying goodbye. I will always be ready to fight. No surrender.”
Please join us in congratulating Anderson on this amazing achievement and for continued good health in the future.
