After wowing on Broadway in the original cast of Hamilton and then turning up on Netflix’s ALTERED CARBON, ONE LIFE TO LIVE fan-favorite Renée Elise Goldsberry (Evangeline) is returning to network television. The 2016 Tony winner joins CBS’ new psychological mystery drama, EVIL, as Renee Harris, a dynamic, hard-driving attorney who works for the Catholic Church. It’s a role that is right in the actress’ wheelhouse as Evangeline was also a razor-sharp legal eagle!
The star’s multi-episode arc begins Thursday, Dec. 5, in the episode titled “Exorcism Part 2” where she acts as defensive counsel for priest-in-training David Acosta (played by Mike Colter) when he is sued for inflicting severe psychological harm on Caroline Hopkins after assisting in her exorcism. Complicating matters is his connection to Renee — he dated her late sister, Julia.
EVIL focuses on a skeptical female journalist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter as they investigate the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and hauntings. It airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
