With so many GENERAL HOSPITAL locals closing in on Peter August’s true identity, his downfall seems imminent — and no one is more excited for the reveal than portrayer Wes Ramsey. “Hold on to your hat,” the actor warned Soaps In Depth. “Things are about to get crazy!”
While just about everyone in Port Charles seems to be trying to figure out who Peter is and/or where Faison’s son Henrik has gone, Ramsey has enjoyed sharing his character’s secret with the audience. “It’s felt very cloak-and-dagger and very manipulative,” he said. “Like a puppetmaster tugging on strings and using words and intentions to make people dance the way he wants them to. He’s complicated, confusing and disturbing.”
Peter’s also rather cocky. “My character obviously believes he’s capable of outwitting anyone,” chuckled Ramsey. “He’s seriously at odds with some very powerful people, and they’re getting close, but he’s not fearful in any way. The writers created a worthy adversary in this character. He’s no pushover!”

Perhaps the most tragic part of Peter’s tale is that the mother he hates for abandoning him only wants to find him, explain herself and take him into her arms. “It’s wonderfully dramatic,” Ramsey allowed. “The scenes when Peter and Anna fist met are some of my favorites I’ve done on the show, to this day. The characters were able to have an intellectual standoff, using their wits, minds and language to face off. Neither would back down, and that was powerful — and perhaps an incredible foreshadowing of what could come once these strong, smart people are suddenly thrown into this very strange family dynamic!”
Of course, Peter’s mother isn’t the only one who will be rocked by the reveal that he’s Henrik. Jason’s gunning for answers, the Aurora COO holds Drew’s memories in his hands, Lulu is on the case, and Curtis is chasing leads for Nina… who has no clue hubby Valentin is in cahoots with Maxie’s pal! Peter’s identity, teased Ramsey, “feels like a time bomb that’s hardwired to branch out and devastate so many lives in so many different ways. When it goes off, it’s going to spread like wildfire. I can only imagine how it’s going to change the relationships and characters on the show.
“I’ve really enjoyed the way the writers have begun to handle this epic reveal,” he added. “Some of us thought we’d have arrived by now, which has only created more tension. Now, we’re all horses at the gate, ready to run. We want the race to start!”
