Find Out if Your Favorite Soaps Are Airing on New Year’s Day

Soap fans always double-check the schedules during the holidays to see if their favorite daytime dramas are going to be on or not. And with New Year’s Day falling on Monday, it’s only natural viewers might be wondering if the soaps are going to be preempted or airing reruns. Since we don’t want you to miss a single brand-new episode, we’ve got the rundown on what GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and DAYS OF OUR LIVES have planned for the upcoming holiday!

Is GENERAL HOSPITAL going to be on New Year’s Day?

ABC will be airing the Citrus Bowl featuring Iowa versus Tennessee, so GH fans will have the day off from all the drama in Port Charles. And remember, since there’s no new episode on Monday afternoon, you won’t find it on Hulu or Monday evening!

Is THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS going to be on New Year’s Day?

Although Y&R will be on New Year’s Day, it will not be a new episode. Instead, CBS will be airing an encore of the show that originally aired on Oct. 17, 2003. This will follow up on the Oct. 13, 2003, episode that aired on Dec. 29 as Kevin tries to act like nothing’s wrong while Brad and J.T. team up to save Colleen’s life. And remember, the encore episodes don’t stream on or Paramount+, so if you want to relive the drama, make sure to tune in live or set your DVR!

Is THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL going to be on New Year’s Day?

Like its sister soap, B&B will also be airing a rerun on Monday. And like Y&R, it is following up on the encore show that aired on Friday. This time, it’s the June 26 episode from this year where special guest star Andrea Bocelli sang for Brooke and Ridge in Italy!

Is DAYS OF OUR LIVES going to be on New Year’s Day?

Since DAYS streams on Peacock, there’s no more reason to worry about preemptions for news, sports, or holidays. So fans should definitely tune in on New Year’s Day for a brand-new episode as Holly’s life hangs in the balance and her loved ones look for someone to blame for what happened to her! (At least since it’s streaming, you can watch it whenever it’s convenient for your schedule!)

So enjoy your New Year’s holiday and be sure to tune in for all-new drama on your favorite soaps on Tuesday, Jan. 2, where everything will pick up right where it left off (except for DAYS, where the drama never stops!). And don’t forget to double-check your DVRs to make sure they are set to record on Tuesday because sometimes holidays and preemptions can screw up the schedule. We don’t want anyone to miss a single episode!
