Stars Share Their Guilty Pleasure: AMERICAN IDOL!

What do GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Maurice Benard (Sonny) and ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Kristen Alderson (Starr) have in common? Both actors have been tweeting live during their favorite show — AMERICAN IDOL — providing a running commentary of the FOX sensation for their followers. And their funny remarks seem to be a big hit, too! “The fans love it and I have fun, too!” Benard tells Soaps In Depth. “I’m really excited about this season. It’s a real versatile group of singers. There’s not one clear frontrunner — they’re all good.”

Alderson tells us that watching IDOL is a family affair, and since her clan is always critiquing the contestants from their couch, she thought that sharing her comments with her fans on Twitter was a natural progression. “I love to hear what my followers think as well,” she confesses. “Some of their comments are hilarious!”

As for her favorites this season, Alderson has a few: country-style crooner Lauren Alaina and Pia Toscano. “I like Lauren’s easy presence, and I think Pia has an amazing voice,” she shares. “But my favorite performance this season, by far, has been Casey Abrams‘ “Your Song” on Elton John night.”
