Susan Batten’s New Role on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

An old favorite from Llanview is headed to Port Charles! Soap Opera Digest is reporting in their new issue that Susan Batten will be appearing on GENERAL HOSPITAL the week of June 30 in the role of home-shopping star Flora Gardens.

The actress, who played Luna Moody on ONE LIFE TO LIVE from 1991-95 (and multiple appearances as a ghost in the following years), remained friends with the soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, who now heads up GH

“I’ve been writing for a while, and during COVID, I think we all felt like we needed a little soul replenishment,” Batten told the magazine. “I told Frank, ‘I miss acting. I miss that whole energy of being part of a collaboration of actors and I feel like I want t do that again. If anything comes up that you think might be fun for me to do, just let me know and I’ll do it.’ He called me and said, ‘Okay, there’s this character named Flora Gardens.’ I said, ‘Does she have teeth?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Okay, I’ll do it. And I just had a blast.”

OLTL Al Luna

In addition to her role on OLTL, Batten also played Connor Walsh on CBS sudser AS THE WORLD TURNS and kicked off her daytime career back in the ‘80s as Lolly on ALL MY CHILDREN. Her more recent work has included the 2016 Lifetime movie Showing Roots and the 2021 indie film The Same Storm.

Batten’s character should be appearing during the episodes alongside Morgan Fairchild’s home shopping hostess Haven de Havilland when Sasha appears on the program to talk up Deception’s products. It may be just a brief stint, but the actress really enjoyed it. “It was just so much fun and I valued the whole experience,” she declared.
