Adam’s Song on GENERAL HOSPITAL Was a Joshua Benard Original!
Josslyn and Trina may have been surprised to hear Adam singing and playing guitar on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but many viewers already knew that the teen’s portrayer, Joshua Benard, is a talented musician. His father, Maurice Benard (Sonny), has been proudly sharing his son’s musical skills for years!
In the Dec. 13 episode of GH, Trina and Josslyn returned to their dorm room to stumble upon Adam sitting in the hallway noodling around with a song. They invited him into their room where he sang a little bit more and they both wondered why he wasn’t pursuing music instead of medicine, given his talent. “Fun fact,” the soap shared on Instagram after the episode aired. “The song Josslyn and Trina caught Adam tinkering with is actually a Joshua Benard original titled ‘Barely Alive.’”
Benard first appeared on GH back in 2018 for a special episode celebrating his father’s 25th anniversary on the show. In it, he played a younger version of his dad’s popular character, Sonny Corinthos. The young performer returned to the soap in March 2022 to play the newly created role of Adam, a classmate of Josslyn’s. After a few sporadic appearances in 2022, Benard returned in September 2023 and has been recurring ever since as Adam has gotten his own storyline.
The actor has also appeared in episodes of STATION 19, GOOD TROUBLE, and THE REHEARSAL. And while his dad has shared some of his son’s performances, you can find even more over on Benard’s own Instagram. Between covers of songs and his own original creations, it’s clear that his talent has only increased as he’s grown up.
While it seems unlikely that Adam will choose to disobey his parents and pursue a music career over becoming a doctor, Benard himself seems destined for a career in show business. Whether that’s acting, singing, writing, composing, or a combination of some or all of those, we can’t wait to see what’s next!
