Although Asher Antonyzyn made his debut as Danny Moran on GENERAL HOSPITAL back in November 2023, it wasn’t until March 2024 when the kid’s father, Jason Morgan, returned to Port Charles after being presumed dead that the young actor got to play more of a storyline. And more screen time meant more commuting to the soap’s California set from his home in Chicago.

“At first, I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll probably just be here for a week or a couple of weeks and then [away for] four months,” Antonyzyn admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “And when Steve Burton was coming back as Jason, I was like, ‘Since Danny never really had storyline with him, maybe I’ll come back out here a lot more and be able to do that with him.’ And then it happened! So that was pretty cool.”

GH isn’t just Antonyzyn’s daytime debut, it’s also his acting debut, and he’s been learning a lot about how television is made from the ground up. And one thing he’s learned is that he doesn’t like to watch his own performances!

“I did watch myself in my first scenes but I don’t really like to watch myself,” he confessed. “I was talking about that with Steve Burton and he was like, ‘Yeah, I’m the exact same way. I don’t like to watch myself because that’s when I overthink it way too much.’ And I was like, “Yeah, that is very true.’ I get cringed out when I watch myself!”

But the newcomer is enjoying working opposite all of his new castmates on GH, including Burton, and is looking forward to exploring Danny and Jason’s relationship now that they’ve been reunited. And he believes that his character is definitely following in his father’s footsteps… which could lead to big trouble in the future!

“I believe that would be a lot of fun to play,” Antonyzyn enthused. “I think that will happen — I mean, I can’t keep count of all the times that people say, ‘Danny, he’s just like his dad!’ I think that if Jason doesn’t get sent away again, he and Danny will have a really great connection.”
