Ashley Jones Shares Her Co-Parenting Success
Harmoniously raising a child with your ex after a divorce can be a difficult road to travel. Add in a half sibling and a third parent, and the situation can become even trickier to navigate. In a new Instagram post, soap alum Ashley Jones gave her followers an update on how that process is going in her own household — and thankfully, she had good news to share!
Jones shares custody of her 7-year-old son, Hayden, with her ex-husband, Joel Henricks, who has an older son, 11-year-old Huck, as well, from his previous marriage to relationship coach Katie Henricks. In a joint post with Katie, Jones shared a slideshow of photos set to The Emotions song “Best of My Love” to commemorate the first day of the new school year for the boys… and the pictures show a loving, smiling family of two moms, a dad, and two brothers.
“This post is for some of you that follow us and can’t imagine a situation where co-parenting is real and functional,” she wrote. “By the grace of God, we are here today. We’re grateful for this moment. Our boys started 1st and 6th grade today at the same school. They were happy. We are grateful. We are giving the best of our love to them. Go be great, kiddos.”
Since Huck was just four years old when Jones married his dad, the actress — who daytime viewers know from her roles on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL as Bridget, GENERAL HOSPITAL as Parker, and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Megan — has been a part of the middle schooler’s family for more than half his life! In the text written over the photos, Jones confessed that “it took time” for the three adults to get to a place where they could present a united front to support the boys.
In the comments section of the joint post, which included the hashtags coparenting, divorced parents, and modern family, Katie wrote, “I remember touring schools with you last year and praying for a day like today where our boys do get the best of our love. We have been blessed in the most unexpected ways but it certainly wasn’t according to our timing. Feeling beyond grateful today.”
Getting together for the start of the new school year isn’t the first recent co-parenting win that Jones has shared with Hayden’s dad. This spring, Hayden and Huck had a joint 7-11 themed birthday party, which the actress confessed was “the first time in many years” that the boys celebrated their May birthdays together.
