The Corinthos Compound got a remodel! In the April 23 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL, Sonny came home to a completely redecorated foyer and living room. The long staircase has been replaced by a shorter one, and there is now a doorway leading off to the kitchen next to it. The patio doors are still in the same place, and lighted bookshelves line the corner between it and the fireplace, which is now made of white marble. The furniture has also changed, with the dark leather sofa and chairs being replaced by light blue fabric ones.
The whole look has been transformed into something brighter and airier, now matching the kitchen set. “This is amazing!” Maurice Benard (Sonny) declared in a behind-the-scenes video before joking, “This is like the kitchen, but without that green moss.” Co-star Laura Wright (Carly) agreed, adding, “Now our living room matches the kitchen. Like it all belongs in the same house.”
You already saw the new digs on TV, but you can check out a wider shot of the entire new set built shortly before the soap suspended production during the COVID-19 pandemic in the backstage video below. GH executive producer Frank Valentini invited Benard and Wright to be present as they revealed to them the new set they would be working on in the future, and they were suitably impressed. Although they were slightly confused to see Chad Duell descending the stairs as Michael now lives at the Quartermaine mansion! Check it out:
