After Spinelli’s swoonworthy karaoke performance on GENERAL HOSPITAL, he and Maxie finally kissed. But the following day, when he opened up about his feelings, he got a little bit too honest and confessed that he didn’t have a problem with his apartment and had only moved in with Maxie to help her with the rent. Naturally, she was upset that he’d lied to her and threw him out. But is this the end of a possible “Spixie” reunion?

“It really feels like they are kind of unwrapping these layers of excuses as to why they shouldn’t be together,” Bradford Anderson explained to Soap Opera Digest, “and he’s got to the center of it before she has. It’s interesting, because I thought back to the Nurses Ball of ’15 with Nathan and Ellie where [Maxie and Spinelli] had decided to get back together but then ultimately they were like, ‘It’s just the comfort of being together, the logic of being together because we have a kid.’ It wasn’t the right time.

“And since that time, she’s been with Nathan, who died, and Peter August, who was… Peter August,” he added with a laugh. “And then Austin Gatlin-Holt. I think her experiences [after losing Nathan] have kind of made her look for something that is solid, look for something that is safe, look for something that is good for her kids. And what could be better for her kids than, obviously, one of their parents, someone that she trusts implicitly and loves, and has always loved.”

The problem is that after Spinelli admitted that the pipes in his apartment were fine and he’d cooked up this scheme with Felicia to move in with the family and help make ends meet, Maxie once again felt she couldn’t trust the man in her life. Will she be willing to give Spinelli yet another chance or could this be the final nail in the coffin?
