Brandon Barash Mourns the Death of His Stepmother

Please join us in sending love to Brandon Barash (Stefan, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Johnny, GENERAL HOSPITAL) as he mourns the death of his stepmother, Karen Barash.

“Finally,” the actor shared on Instagram with some family photos. “You’re free from your disease. Finally. The shackles of Alzheimer’s constrain, restrain, rein in no more. Finally. You and dad are reunited. Infinitely, I shall love you. Fly free, sweet KB. Finally.”

Barash lost his father, Jerry Lee Barash, back in December 2017, and now just five years later, his parents have been reunited and are together again forever.

Naturally, the comments on Barash’s Instagram tribute gallery filled up with heartfelt comments from his friends and co-stars. “Lots of love to you and your family, Brandon,” wrote Greg Rikaart (Leo, DAYS). GH’s Laura Wright (Carly) shared simply a praying emoji and a heart emoji. Martha Madison (Belle, DAYS) shared: “I’m so sorry, Brandon. I know the unique pain of losing someone to this cruel disease and hope you are able to find some peace with it all. Sending love to you and your family.”

“I’m lucky enough that this life gave me two moms,” Barash said back on Mother’s Day 2018. “Double the love. Double the fun. Double the Jewish guilt.”

Barash’s parents supported him as he pursued his career in acting which led him to find fame in daytime starting back in 2007 when he joined the cast of GH as Johnny Zacchara and more recently, his roles as Jake and Stefan DiMera on DAYS.
