Bryan Craig Stars in an Inspirational New Movie
Since exiting GENERAL HOSPITAL as Morgan in 2016, Bryan Craig has been steadily working in primetime and film. But the Daytime Emmy winner says that his latest project has been a dream come true! Women Is Losers, the actor’s newest movie, will have its world premiere at the 2021 South by Southwest Film Festival next month. “[It’s] always been a goal of mine to star in a movie at SXSW,” the GH alum wrote on Instagram. “Couldn’t be happier to have done it with this group of talented performers and creatives. Excited to announce the world premiere of our movie, Women Is Losers. Here we go 2021!”
Held each year in Austin, Texas, the SXSW Conference & Festival celebrates interactive media, music, and film industries. (After being canceled last year when the pandemic hit, the SXSW will take place virtually this year from March 16-20 due to COVID restrictions.) It is the place for up-and-comers to get noticed, and the independent movies that are part of the film festival portion often get distribution deals as a result of being featured in the prestigious event.
As for Craig’s film, Women Is Losers is set in 1967 San Francisco and tells the story of Celine (played by Lorena Izzo), a young Latina whose future is derailed by an unexpected pregnancy. Determined to rise above the oppression of poverty, Celine works multiple jobs as she fights the system and becomes a successful landowner during a time when single mothers were not given loans. Craig stars opposite Izzo as Mateo in the inspirational women’s rights film inspired by real women and the Janis Joplin song of the same name. “I think you all will love this one,” he wrote when he was first cast in the role.
Please join us in wishing Craig and his castmates the best of luck at their world premiere!
