It’s not quite Thanksgiving, but GENERAL HOSPITAL star Cameron Mathison (Drew) wants to get you in the Christmas spirit already! The actor stars with Jennie Garth in the new movie A Kindhearted Christmas, premiering on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on GAC Family, and he wants to make sure you’re all going to tune in! “Really hope you check out this sweet Christmas movie Saturday night!” he enthused on Instagram. “It’s about the pure act of giving and how it can catch on in a community and bring people together. Something we all need right now.”
In A Kindhearted Christmas, Garth’s character of Jamie is grieving the loss of her husband and decides to follow in his generous footsteps to bring joy during the holiday season. While watching Mathison’s character of Scott, anchoring an upstate news broadcast, she learns of a nearby high school’s fundraising goal and spontaneously donates the entire amount… anonymously! Her anonymous gift sparks another and another until the entire town of Cooperville gets into the spirit. Naturally, this draws Scott to visit and try to uncover the identity of the school’s mysterious Secret Santa. What isn’t a secret is that Jamie and Scott will naturally be drawn together by the magic of the season!
Back when the duo was filming the movie in September, Mathison shared a video on Instagram where he questioned Garth to see if she remembered the previous times they’d worked together. “I want you to know that we’ve actually worked together four times,” he told her backstage at the film’s set. But she found that hard to believe. “No way we worked together four times. Maybe twice. I feel like maybe you might have been on DANCING WITH THE STARS in the season I did it?”
Confirming that was one, Mathison added that they had done a 2013 movie called Holidaze and now this current one they were shooting, but challenged her to recall the other time. When Garth had to admit defeat, Mathison joked: “I’m incredibly memorable to work with. It’s the kind of thing where people just remember.” Then he revealed that he had appeared in an episode of her WB series WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU back in 2003! “I played the doctor who had all the weird…” he started and Garth recalled: “You had the stuffed animals! How could I forget? You were so weird!”
The pair have terrific chemistry together and you can enjoy watching it again when A Kindhearted Christmas premieres on GAC Family on Saturday, Nov. 20. But first, check out this delightful trailer!
