Please join us in congratulating GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Vinessa Antoine (ex-Jordan) on her nomination for Best Lead Actress, Drama Series, in the 2022 Canadian Screen Awards! “This was a nice surprise to start my day,” she exclaimed on Instagram when the nominees were announced. “Thank you, the Canadian Academy, CBS, DIGGSTOWN, [producer] Floyd Kane, [producer] Amos Adetuyi, Circle Blue Entertainment, and so many others for this experience!”
Antoine was nominated for her work on the legal drama DIGGSTOWN and joins fellow Lead Actress nominees Kristin Kreuk (BURDEN OF TRUTH), Serinda Swan (CORONER), Laurence Leboeuf (TRANSPLANT), and Melanie Scrofano (WYNONNA EARP).
The actress also gave some shoutouts to her fellow nominees from DIGGSTOWN. “Big congrats to our fearless leader, Mr. Floyd Kane for his nomination for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series,” she cheered. “Natasha Henstridge for Best Supporting Actress, Jully Black for Best Guest Performance, and Mpho Koaho for Best Supporting Actor! Woo hoo, DIGGSTOWN! So happy for so many of my friends getting recognition this year as well!”
Antoine joined GH as Jordan Ashford back in March 20214 but chose to exit the ABC sudser in 2018 to return to Canada where she was cast as the lead in the new legal drama, DIGGSTOWN. Her portrayal of Marcie Diggs earned her an ACTRA Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in 2020 and a Screen Nova Scotia Award for Outstanding Performance in 2021.
Antoine was also nominated for Lead Actress in the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards. But we’ll just have to wait until the 2022 winners are announced on Sunday, April 10, to find out if she finally takes home the trophy this year! (And hopefully, DIGGSTOWN gets picked up for season four so she can get another nomination next year!)
