Cynthia Watros Teases What’s Next for Nina on GENERAL HOSPITAL
The honeymoon ended pretty quickly for Nina on GENERAL HOSPITAL! Shortly after she tied the knot with Sonny and looked forward to living happily ever after, Michael revealed that he knows she was the one who had Carly and Drew investigated for insider trading!
However, instead of just blowing her out of the water by publicly exposing the recording he made of Martin confessing he called the SEC on Nina’s behalf, Michael has chosen to use the truth as leverage to manipulate her life!
“He wants to be able to control her access to Willow,” Cynthia Watros (Nina) lamented to Soap Opera Digest about her character’s dilemma. “And that devastates Nina. She finally has the family that she’s always wanted and dreamed of and that’ll be torn apart. So Michael’s really got her in a tough place.”
With Nina finally making inroads into forging an actual mother/daughter relationship with Willow, this couldn’t come at a worse time. “He’s just so angry and so mad at Nina and can’t get past that rage to see that Nina is trying really hard and she’s really not that bad,” the actress insisted. “I don’t think he’s thinking clearly.”
While Willow will not react well to learning what Nina did, Nina is more concerned about her husband and the fate of their new marriage. “When she thinks about the possibility of Sonny finding out, she’s terrified that he is going to leave her because Sonny doesn’t like secrets, even though he has some secrets,” Watros noted. “He doesn’t like this impulsive side of Nina so much.”
Although Nina’s life is currently hanging by a threat, her portrayer couldn’t be more excited about this new twist to her storyline. “So right now, Michael knows and Martin knows and Ned’s walking around there, and who knows what’s going to happen if he gets his memory back,” Watros mused. “Nine is between a rock and a hard place and I love playing that.”
