Dominic Zamprogna and Co-Stars Win Best Ensemble Cast

Congratulations to GENERAL HOSPITAL star Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and his co-stars in To the Moon and Back for winning Best Ensemble Cast at the 14th Annual Detroit Trinity International Film Festival! “What an amazing privilege it was to work with you all,” tweeted the film’s writer and director, Nate Hapke. “Thank you for joining me for the adventure. To many, many more! To the moon, and back!”

The award-winning short film stars Zamprogna as Robert Westfield, who as he prepares to eulogize his mother, finds solace in his wife and daughter, played by Danielle Rayne and Julie Romano. Although the Detroit Trinity International Film Festival was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were still screenings, and the awards were still handed out.

I needed a couple of days to process Saturday’s premiere. My 11th short film, arguably my most personal: a precatharsis of sorts that helped me process one of the scariest images of my life. This film featured one of my favorite casts, a new DP, a new composer, and the same incredible producing team. The Q&A was moderated by one of my favorite people. The night was full of so many smiling faces celebrating a story that I needed to tell. And I got to share the night with my mother. My heart is full. So thankful to everyone that contributed to the crowdfunding campaign to get this film made in the first place, the immensely talented cast that breathed life into my characters, the intrepid crew that worked together to make such a beautiful piece of art, and to all of the people who came out to celebrate it. “It was such a privilege to be enriched by the collaboration with you as a director,” Hapke said to his cast on Instagram, “and immensely fulfilling to hear you breathe life into this pre-catharsis for me as a writer.” Sadly, for Zamprogna’s fans, there is still currently no way for them to see the GH actor deliver his award-winning performance in To the Moon and Back, but we’ll be sure to let you know if that changes!
