Dominic Zamprogna Jokes About Not Being a Great Cop on GH

Tags:

With all the crime in Port Charles, one of the running jokes with GENERAL HOSPITAL fans is how the PCPD never seems to do a very good job solving cases and bringing criminals to justice! And having played officer Dante Falconeri since 2009, Dominic Zamprogna knows that frustration all too well.

“Every once in a while, I’ll put on NCIS or something just to see the cops actually winning, you know?” the actor joked to Soap Opera Digest. “Because we never do on the show. We just don’t. Would I like to see him solve a case? Yeah! But I’m not losing any sleep over it.”

Despite not really delivering too much justice in Port Charles, Dante has had plenty of partners to help give it their best shot. “Michael Easton (Finn), when he first came onto the show as McBain, he and I really loved the brief time we were playing cops together,” Zamprogna confided. “We thought that could have been a really cool thing and we still talk all the time about how fun it was. I think people would have really dug that partnership.”

It was Dante and Nathan’s friendship and partnership that viewers really enjoyed, which sadly ended when Ryan Paevey left GH and Nathan was killed off. “There were a lot of bad guys running around,” the actor recalled. “I still don’t think we solved anything, but we looked good not solving stuff!”

Dante was given a new partner when Josh Swickard joined the soap as Harrison Chase, though Zamprogna left the show months later himself. Now that he’s back, he’s hoping Dante’s former partner gets reinstated so they can team up again. “We need good detectives,” the actor declared. “Or at least people who make the audience believe we might actually solve a crime.”

Still, maybe it’s for the best that Dante doesn’t arrest too many criminals because his portrayer admitted that while he knows how to look like he can handle a gun, cuffs are a different story! “I still don’t know what I’m doing with handcuffs!” Zamprogna laughed. “I hate working with handcuffs. I find them so annoying. If I know the camera isn’t going to see the cuffs, we just fake it because I can’t stand them.”
