Fans may have watched Nicolas Bechtel grow up on screen as Spencer on GENERAL HOSPITAL but it seems like many of them were unprepared to see just how grown up the young actor is today!

On social media, he normally posts selfies with the camera in front of his face or he’s wearing sunglasses in pics, but just a few weeks after celebrating his 19th birthday on Feb. 15, Bechtel shared a clear photo of himself so everyone can see just what a handsome young man he has become. And naturally, he made it his profile pic on Twitter/X!

Bechtel got his big break when he took over the role of Spencer Cassadine in May 2013 and his work earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in 2016. During his time at GH, the talented performer also moonlighted in shows like GIRL MEETS WORLD, RED BAND SOCIETY, GREY’S ANATOMY, and AMERICAN CRIME STORY. When he was cast as Lewie Diaz in the Disney Channel series STUCK IN THE MIDDLE, his appearances as Spencer became more sporadic, his last being in January 2020.

In July 2021, Spencer returned to Port Charles permanently, although the character was aged and recast with Nicholas Chavez. For fans of Bechtel, he has continued to work, playing Rory in an episode of AMERICAN HORROR STORIES. He’s also been attending school and celebrated his prom in April 2023.

Fans weren’t the only ones startled to see how much Bechtel has grown up. Former GH castmate Kristen Alderson (ex-Kiki) responded to his pic: “Can’t believe how grown up you are! Time freakin’ flies! Amazing picture! Hope you’re doing great!”

Given that another shot from this particular photo shoot is now his main photo on IMDb, perhaps the grad had new headshots done so he can dive back into acting now that school is over. Keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com and we’ll be sure to let you know where you can see him next!
