Finola Hughes Opens up About Anna and Valentin’s Steamy Love Scene on GH

Fans have been waiting for ages for Anna and Valentin to get together on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Although at odds since the Cassadine arrived in Port Charles, the two finally succumbed to their growing feelings and began dating, eventually hitting the sheets in a passionate love scene. 

“People have sort of gone a little crazy about it,” Finola Hughes (Anna) told 6ABC. “Twitter kind of blew up and I have to say, at this stage in my life for people to react that well to a love scene on television, I was amazed.”

Especially because some of the younger viewers were a little taken aback to see the older actors in such a sexy scenario. “They weren’t sure about watching this because it was grown-grown people and I really liked that,” the actress smiled. “And I retweeted that because it was, to grown people on television in bed.”

And in an industry that favors youth, Hughes believes it’s “gratifying” to be given this kind of front-burner love story on GH, a soap she joined way back in 1985. “Being in Hollywood, you’re reminded constantly that it’s done,” she said. “And I like to think that maybe I’m holding a torch for women everywhere.

“Maybe we’re just starting to regard women that they don’t have a ‘sell by’ date,” she added. “It would be nice. It’s a battle hard won.”
