Please join us in extending our condolences to GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Finola Huges (Anna), as she grieves the death of a member of her extended family.

In a touching tribute on Instagram, Hughes shared the sad news that her godfather, Bayly Collyns, had passed away. “My godfather right here brought so much sweetness, laughter, and love into my childhood,” the GH star wrote. “I couldn’t wait for him to visit!”

It sounds as though visits from Collyns were something that the entire Hughes household looked forward to. “My parents and brother adored him,” the actress added.

According to the London funeral home servicing his burial, Collyns died peacefully on Feb. 9 at the age of 78. “His knowledge of the sea was extraordinary and his ability to mimic Cork Irishmen and aunties, brilliant,” Hughes revealed in her touching tribute. “The fact that he was surrounded by love his entire life is [a] testament to his absolutely golden heart.”

Hughes added that Collyns is survived by his wife, Lucy, children Louisa, Daniel, Robert, and Joseph, and sister Sharon. “Rest easy, dear Bayly,” she concluded. “You faced life with singular grace and resilience and brought joy to us all.”

In the comments section of her post, Hughes’ colleagues and fans wrote in to express their condolences. “I’m so sorry for your loss,” shared Rebecca Budig, who worked with the actress as both GH’s Hayden and ALL MY CHILDREN’s Greenlee, while Laura Wright (Carly) commented with a trio of heart emojis.

Collyns’ daughter, Louisa, appreciated the sweet sentiments written by her late father’s goddaughter on the social media platform. “Thank you for these beautiful words Finola,” said Louisa. “He meant so much to so many.”

Our thoughts are with Hughes and the Collyns family during this difficult time.
