GENERAL HOSPITAL Alum Jack Axelrod Dead at 93

Tags:

Another member of the extended GENERAL HOSPITAL family has passed. Actor Jack Axelrod died at the age of 93 on Nov. 28 of natural causes, his rep, Jennifer Garland, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Axelrod’s career spanned decades, kicking off in 1971 playing Arroyo in the Woody Allen movie Bananas, followed by episodes of shows like KOJAK, HILL STREET BLUES, DALLAS, and DYNASTY.

But soap fans will remember the actor best for playing villainous mobster Victor Jerome on GH from April 1987 until the character was killed off in October 1989. Victor is the father of Julian and Ava, who brought the Jerome family back to the canvas in recent years.

Axelrod continued working right up through 2020, appearing in primetime series like MURPHY BROWN, ALIAS, GREY’S ANATOMY, MY NAME IS EARL, HOT IN CLEVELAND, and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE. He could be seen on the big screen in films like Hancock, Little Fockers, Super 8, and The Lone Ranger. His final credit was playing Dr. Cherbenko in the 2020 movie Bad Therapy.

Our thoughts are with Axelrod’s family and friends during this difficult time.
