GENERAL HOSPITAL Stars Celebrate Kin Shriner’s 45th Anniversary

The anniversaries just keep coming! Kin Shriner took over the role o Scott Baldwin on GENERAL HOSPITAL back on Aug. 2, 1977, which means the actor is celebrating his 45th anniversary with the long-running soap! “45 years ago today!” Shriner marveled on Twitter.

“Please join me in congratulating Kin Shriner on a legendary 45 years with GH,” tweeted the soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini. “Happy anniversary, Kin!”

And the praise just kept coming. “What can I say about my best friend, Kin,” marveled Maurice Benard (Sonny). “Probably one of the only actors in the world who can say that they’ve been working at the same job for 45 years. One thing I always say about his talent. You can’t take your eyes off it. You’ve earned it, my friend.”

Longtime co-star Lynn Herring (Lucy), who appeared with Shriner not only on GH but also its spinoff, PORT CHARLES, cheered: “45 years, pal o’ mine! I am so lucky and proud to have been a small part of GH with you. Thank you for just being you.”

Shriner also shared a fun video of himself celebrating his anniversary with new castmate Marcus Coloma (Nikolas), who just loves making these kinds of silly clips. In it, the pair head to a driving range to hit some golf balls, only to discover that they have not prepared accordingly. “Congrats, Buddy,” Coloma tweeted.

The character of Scotty Baldwin (originally named Scotty Bentley) first appeared on GH back in the mid-‘60s played by child actor Johnny Whitaker. After a series of recasts with other young actors, Scotty was aged into an adult in 1977 when Shriner took over the role. His romance with young Laura Webber and the subsequent triangle with Luke Spencer helped make GH a pop culture phenomenon in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The talented actor has also earned four Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his work over the years. And while Scott may come and go from the canvas, Shriner remains an important part of GH’s history as well as its future.

So keep watching GH to see what kind of drama Scott gets mixed up in next!
