Genie Francis Opens up About Her New GH Family

Now that Genie Francis is back on GENERAL HOSPITAL as Laura, there’s certain to be plenty of drama coming up on the soap given her new family connections! “I feel so lucky that they gave me these two brothers,” the actress told TV Insider of Michael E. Knight’s Martin and Jeff Kober’s Cyrus. “It’s a wonderful surprise. This deep into a character on the show to finally have them go back and they pull that out of my past. Which was a great thing to do. I love what they did.”

While Laura’s time hiding out in the safe house with Martin brought the siblings much closer together (“And I adore Michael Knight,” Francis enthused.), the same can’t be said for Laura’s relationship with Cyrus, who continues to be a huge threat even locked up in prison! “She’s not as scared of him,” the actress said of Laura’s feelings for her villainous brother. “I think she’s scared, but not as scared. 

“And even though he’s done these horrific things, there’s a part of her that loves him,” she continued. “Because it’s her brother and she can sort of see where he’s gone wrong. So it’s a love-hate relationship. It’s very interesting.”

Plus, Francis loves sharing scenes with Kober, who she even compared to a GH legend! “I think Jeff is just such a fun actor,” she declared. “He reminds me of Tony Geary (ex-Luke) in that you can’t predict what he’s gonna do!”

However, the daytime vet declined to reveal any details about what was coming up next for Laura on the soap, but that’s mostly because she couldn’t! “I don’t know the full story of what’s coming,” Francis admitted. “They don’t often tell us that. They keep that very quiet. In these social media days, it’s just very hard to keep our stories secret. Everything just seems to get out.”
