GH’s Chad Duell Dishes a Real Turkey of an Episode!

Tags:

Things are pretty grim for Michael on GENERAL HOSPITAL right now with him plotting to destroy his father, Sonny, while also dealing with supporting Willow as she battles leukemia while pregnant with their child. So portrayer Chad Duell was happy to enjoy a lighter moment during the soap’s 2022 Thanksgiving episode which involved acting alongside a real, live turkey!

“Those things are bigger than you’d think they would be!” he exclaimed in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. I didn’t have that much interaction with him, but having a huge turkey on set was a lot of fun. It’s cool to shake things up like that.

“You can kind of get caught up in the machine, the grind of the everyday, doing similar stuff all the time,” Duell added. “And then, when you bring in a live animal, like the turkey or the horse [on the Quartermaine stables set], it changes things up and gets you out of your regular routine.”

Having the turkey delivered to the Quartermaine mansion turn out to be a live one that would have to be killed and cleaned before they could cook it certainly made for one of the more unique ways that GH has forced the Q’s to order pizza for the holiday dinner!

“I’m sure the fans were like, ‘What can they possibly do now to ruin Thanksgiving?!’” Duell declared of the annual GH tradition. “And this one was unique, a live turkey destroying our kitchen! I know I didn’t see it coming!”

The real question is, how are they going to top it next year?
