GH’s Finola Hughes on a Sonny/Anna Pairing!
With Anna on the outs with Valentin right now, she’s been leaning on Sonny a lot more, and that’s led some fans to start pushing for a Sonny/Anna pairing on GENERAL HOSPITAL!
Anna and Valentin have had quite the roller coaster relationship full of ups and downs, but after his withholding what he knew about Charlotte’s stalking of Anna led to the spy shooting an intruder who turned out to be the teenage girl, it doesn’t look like they even have a future together. “It’s difficult to sustain that sort of niceness,” Finola Hughes (Anna) admitted to First for Women. “We are a soap opera, and drama does push the story along.”
Sonny and Anna found themselves pushed together when a shooting at the Metro Court pool left Curtis paralyzed and Sonny and Anna wondering which one of them was the assassin’s real target. And as the Pikeman storyline has continued to involve not only the Corinthos shipping business but also Anna’s ex-employers, the WSTB, they’ve been pulled together even further.
“It’s been a very intelligent storyline,” the actress mused. “And the whole Pikeman situation and this idea of trading arms is quite an interesting portion of it.”
While Anna and Sonny are both in the middle of a deadly game of cat and mouse, Hughes is enjoying having more scenes with co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny). And some viewers have been enjoying the chemistry between the two actors and would love to see Sonny and Anna get together!
“I’m down for that,” Hughes declared with a smile. “It’s been lovely to work with Maurice.”
Now, Anna might be currently single, but Sonny is happily married to Nina. Of course, when he finds out that she turned Carly and Drew in to the SEC, that could all change. And might Anna be there to offer Sonny a shoulder to lean on? Hey, in soaps, you never know what might happen next!
