Please join us in congratulating GENERAL HOSPITAL scene stealer Jophielle Love (Violet) on her very first Daytime Emmy Award nomination! Although there is no longer a Younger Performer category, Love received a nomination for Outstanding Original Song for her composition, “Shine.”

“OMG!” Love exclaimed on Instagram. “My first song, ‘Shine,’ got nominated for a Daytime Emmy! I am so excited!”

“Shine” was one of three original songs nominated this year for a Daytime Emmy Award, and the only one from a soap opera. Love co-wrote the music and lyrics along with Douglas Ladnier, John Shartzer, and Derek Ryan Deblieux and performed the tune herself in the episode that aired on Dec. 8, 2023.

“Let’s celebrate with my music team and co-writers,” Love said. “Derek, my music teacher and partner in crime, my godfather, producer, and amazing singer Douglas Ladnier, and John Shartzer, who adapted the music beautifully for ‘Shine’ to be on GH.

“And of course, GH, my second family!” she added. “Thanks to [executive producer] Frank Valentini to have made this sweet scene for me to sing my song! I am so grateful! To the first of many, I hope! This is just the beginning for ‘Shine!’ Stay tuned, and see you all on the red carpet, June 7! And a special thanks to Noah for the love in the studio and to Barrett Yeretsian for the new collaboration forward. And my mom and dad!”
