GH’s Laura Wright Explains Why Carly Accepted Jason’s Gift
With the new writers taking GENERAL HOSPITAL down a new path, a great many changes have been happening on the soap like Drew and Carly’s sudden breakup and Alexis deciding to get her law license back. And now, thanks to Jason, Carly has regained her half of the Metro Court!
After being forced to sell her share to help pay her debts from the insider trading, Carly then declined everyone’s attempts to get it back for her. Heck, she even declined when Nina offered to just give it back to her! But when Jason bought it from Nina to sign over to Carly free and clear, she snatched it up without a second thought.
“Well, he doesn’t really give her a choice,” Laura Wright (Carly) admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “And she knows with Jason when it’s worthless to fight. When Sonny wanted [to buy the hotel back for Carly], it was out of guilt because he destroyed her family. And she’d never take it from Nina, the woman who took her husband. And then Michael, she didn’t want him to be involved in any way in case it came back to bite them with the SEC. And she wasn’t going to let Ned and Olivia gift it to her because she’s not going to take that from her friend. But Jason’s family in a whole different way.”
Jason’s generous gift not only further cemented his bond with Carly, but it also seems to have completely severed her relationship with Sonny once and for all. But while she can’t understand why Sonny is acting the way he is, Carly is still happy to be back running the hotel with Olivia. Of course, she’ll still have to juggle that with running Bobbie’s as well!
“Carly’s energy is big and there’s no reason for her not to have both and do it really well,” Wright declared before laughing and adding, “I mean, unless they write a story that she can’t, I think she can!”
