GH's Maurice Benard Says Goodbye to Marcus Coloma

In his decades at GENERAL HOSPITAL, Maurice Benard (Sonny) has seen many of his castmates come and go. And when it was announced that Marcus Coloma would no longer be playing Nikolas on the soap, he had to take to social media to wish his friend well in all his future endeavors.

“I’ve had many close friends leave GH,” Benard admitted on Twitter. “Of course, it’s always sad and sometimes confusing. I believe when you’re talented, it’s always a blessing in disguise. I always call Marcus the filmmaker. Go kick ass, buddy!”

Coloma, who was touched by the outpouring of support as news of his sudden exit was reported, appreciated his friend’s heartfelt public declaration. “Thanks, brotha,” he replied, adding a few heart emojis for good measure.

The pair became good friends off camera, and Benard had Coloma on his State of Mind YouTube series back in October 2022 to discuss a variety of topics, but fans have really responded to the hilarious Tik Tok sketches and dance routines they’ve been posting on social media for months. (Which is why Benard refers to Coloma as “the filmmaker.”)

When fans expressed their hope that the pals would continue to get together and create the fun clips, Benard assured that “of course” they would. So while viewers won’t be able to enjoy seeing Coloma and Benard on screen together on GH, they can look forward to more wacky nonsense like the clip below!
