Emme Rylan Speaks Out on Her GENERAL HOSPITAL Exit

Tags:

Rumors have been flying around that Emme Rylan is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL, and on Oct. 29, Lulu’s portrayer shared a lengthy Instagram story to reach out to her fans and try to clear things up. “I am… not in a position to be able to comment on the work stuff,” she admitted. “So in terms of GH, I am going to keep that topic quiet. All you need to know is that I love everyone there. We all love each other. I’m okay. And all of your messages of love are amazing. I love you guys so much. But I just can’t talk about it.”

While Rylan is currently unable to discuss anything regarding the soap, she did reveal to her fans that she and her family — partner Don Money, sons Jackson and Levi, and daughter Dakota — are hitting the road. “My landlord sold the house we are living in and we have been desperately househunting,” she explained. “We can’t find anything. COVID has made everything so much more complicated. So my family and I have decided to do something insane. We are currently packing up our entire house and putting it in a pod in storage here in La. And with only our suitcases, we are going to go on a COVID-safe epic road trip.

“So, you know, if you’re bored at home and you would like to see a hot mess of one car, three kids, two cats, and two dogs while wearing masks and not interacting with anyone,” Rylan laughed. “If you want to watch that show, that will be streaming daily here on Instagram.”

Rylan, who got her start playing Lizzie Spaulding on CBS sudser GUIDING LIGHT in 2006, also mentioned that she has been working constantly since her daytime debut. After GL, she moved to Los Angeles where she joined the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS in 2010 as the new Abby Newman before moving over to GH in 2013 to take over as Lulu Spencer. “I have only been in New York and LA,” she confided. “I have never really explored life outside of this bubble.” She also mentioned that her kids are already distance learning so they will continue to do their school work online while on the move.

A few hours after sharing her first series of Instagram Stories explaining the situation as best she could, Rylan added a few more for clarification. “Okay, could I be more vague if I tried?” she laughed. “I’m getting a lot of questions that I cannot answer. But people are kind of being confused about maybe I have chosen to take a vacation or just take time off. So the only thing I can say… is that no. I did not choose this. I can’t say anything else. That’s all I’m allowed to say. So this trip is us taking an unexpected turn of events and turning it into something positive and fun for our family.”
