James Patrick Stuart Promises He’s Not Leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL
Although he’s got a new role in a Disney comedy, James Patrick Stuart has no plans to leave GENERAL HOSPITAL and the role of Valentin. “I am currently working on a Disney Channel comedy pilot,” the actor assured fans on Twitter. “We film 15 minutes from the GH stage, so should the show get picked up for series — and while it would create scheduling headaches for some very cool people — I have no plans to hang up Valentin’s dancing shoes any time soon.”
Deadline reports that the Disney Channel pilot in question is a live-action comedy with the working title AMY FROM AMARILLO. Isabella Pappas will be playing the titular Amy in the show about a family of super-villains who must go into hiding in Amarillo, TX when they get in trouble with the League of Villains and are about to be eliminated. Unfortunately, at this early stage, there is no word on Stuart’s role in the pilot, whether he’s going to be part of the villainous family or one of the extra-nasty League of Villains!
Stuart — who soap fans also remember as Will Cortland on ALL MY CHILDREN from 1990-95 — joined the cast of GH back in July 2016 as the nefarious Valentin Cassadine. Over the years, the villain has grown to show his softer side, such as with daughter Charlotte, but Valentin remains one of the Port Charles residents you do not want to cross!
Even if Stuart hadn’t reassured them via social media, fans needn’t worry that a side gig would lure the talented performer away from Port Charles. While appearing on GH, the actor has found time to moonlight in other projects. In recent years he’s provided voice work for animated series like AMPHIBIA, BLAZE AND THE MONSTER MACHINES, SPIRIT RIDING FREE, and LEGO STAR WARS: THE FREEMAKER ADVENTURES. So he’s used to being busy!
Which is good, because with Valentin currently being duped by Brook Lynn into thinking she’s having his baby in order to get him to give up his control of ELQ, we wouldn’t want anything to interrupt the twists and turns to come in that storyline!
