Jamika Pessoa Cast on GENERAL HOSPITAL
Some viewers might recognize the chef interviewing at the Metro Court when Jamika Pessoa appears on GENERAL HOSPITAL as herself in an episode scheduled to air on Monday, Aug. 8! The Food Network celebrity chef should be familiar from her appearances on shows like THE CHEW, FOOD NETWORK STAR, GUY’S GROCERY GAMES, HOME & FAMILY, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, and THE GOOD DISH.
When Pessoa got the invitation to appear on the soap, she jumped at the chance! “When I got the call, I was like, ‘Wait, GH like, the GH?’” she recalled in the new issue of Soap Opera Digest. “Before they even finished the offer, I was like, ‘Yep, sure! Let me know what time and I will be there with my chef coat, ready to do this!’”
A soap watcher from way back with her grandma, Pessoa was excited to pay a visit to Port Charles, although having to learn lines and perform scenes (even if she’s playing herself) proved daunting. “I’m accustomed to being on sets where it’s food-related,” the chef explained. “It’s a competition show, it’s a reality show, it’s a daytime talk show. I’ve never done scripted [TV] before, so this is my acting debut, if you will.”
Although nervous, Pessoa was so thrilled to be on the GH set that she ultimately enjoyed her experience. “Everyone was so welcoming,” she said of her time in Port Charles. “Everyone was saying ‘You were amazing,’ and I was like, ‘I just said eight lines, but if you loved it, I loved it!’ It was just a great experience — it delivered on everything that I anticipated and then some!”
So stay tuned to watch Pessoa make her daytime debut… and know knows, maybe she’ll get the job and we’ll see her around the Metro Court from time to time in the future!
