Jay and Joey Clay’s Mother, Lana, Shares a Health Update

When she landed in the ICU, GENERAL HOSPITAL fans were quick to send love and healing thoughts to Lana Clay, the mother of Jay and Joey Clay, the scene-stealing twins who play Baby Ace on the ABC soap. And days after being admitted to the hospital on Feb. 17, Lana happily reported on Feb. 21 that she was back home with her family.

“I’m so grateful for the Sepsis and ICU teams at Hoag Hospital,” she posted to X/Twitter. “I’m starting to feel like myself again and excited to be home, snuggling with my babies in my special Ace sweater.”

On Instagram, Lana went into a lot more detail about exactly what landed her in the hospital and her ultimate diagnosis. After months of feeling exhausted, which she put down to being a mom to twin toddlers, she thought she was coming down with the flu but was instead hospitalized with sepsis. “I’m also dealing with colitis, inflammation of my colon causing abdominal pain and digestive issues,” she confided. “My blood and metabolic counts are a disarray. And as many of you know from following me over the years, my history of leukemia and seizures adds complexity, necessitating close monitoring. And I can’t fail to mention I also have an abnormal chest X-ray which needs further investigation.”

Lana’s hospital visit and treatments also led doctors to diagnose her with Addison’s Disease, a rare adrenal insufficiency disorder. “This condition significantly impacts my body’s ability to produce the hormone cortisol, with my levels currently undetectable,” she explained. I basically had what they call an Addisonian crisis, which is super serious and could’ve been fatal.”
