Jeffrey Vincent Parise’s New Role Is a “Dream Come True!”

Tags:

Since leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL, Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos/Joe) has worked steadily, but his newest role is one the artist is especially excited about. “I’m going to play Bearclaw as part of the ElfQuest audio movie and it’s a real dream come true!” he announced on Instagram.

ElfQuest is a comic book series by creators Wendy and Richard Pini that debuted back in 1978 and over the decades grew and expanded into a worldwide cult phenomenon. Parise’s love of the series stems back to his childhood. “I was first in line on Wednesdays at my local comic book shop in Indiana to buy the newest edition of the original ElfQuest,” he confided. “Back when it was in magazine form with Warp Graphics. I still have all of them.

“As a boy, in the backseat of my parent’s car, I would ride by wooded areas and think to myself, ‘I bet there are Elves in there,’” the GH alum continued. “I dressed as Rayak one year for Halloween. My early inspirations as an artist were the Elves. I would draw them on my school folders (which I still have) and on the classroom chalkboard.”

During quarantine, Parise found himself revisiting those old comics and rereading the entire first series. “I thought to myself, this would make a great movie,” he mused. “And when I got to Bearclaw, my next thought was, this is who I’d play. So after all these years, ElfQuest continues to bring high levels of magic and awe into my life. I am beyond grateful to be part of this project!”

The ElfQuest deluxe audio movie is a Kickstarter project that has already passed its goal due to the tremendous support of fans eager to hear a high-quality adaptation of the first five issues of the original series as an audio drama. Joining Parise in the cast are Robert Picardo (STAR TREK: VOYAGER), Amber Benson (BUFFY: THE VAMPIRE SLAYER), and Cree Summer, who Parise says is one of his best friends. “When her and I first met, having both read ElfQuest was one of the things we bonded over!” he enthused.
